One Start Loop plus 6 Laps, 2.10hrs,
4th Place, 3.14min down to winner José Hermida
José uses a lot of the same tactics lately. From the beginning he fires up and tries to take advantage of the possible start weakness of Julien Absalon.
My start was great, but then after 6-7min, I was on the limit and could not “jump” onto José's wheel going into the first long downhill. Mauel Fumic who is not known as the best downhiller in the field opened quite a big gap and José was gone. Absalon, Fogel and Kessiakoff passed me in the uphill where I was suffering. After half of the race I made up a couple of places and battled with Kessiakoff for the bronze medal. I was very positive to bring it home and with one lap to go I made up good ground in a technical downhill, but unfortunately not enough! Kessiakoff caught me again, and despite putting all of my energy into this last lap I was not strong enough.
All in all I felt much better when I think back to the Canadian World Cups.
This week I am taking it super easy, before I start the IXS Swiss Bike Masters this Sunday.
